Just Sharing a Tip

I just discovered a neat little trick I would like to share with you.  One of the main aspects of  "off page" SEO is getting backlinks from other websites back to your website.  In general, the more backlinks you have the better your search ranking will ultimately be.  The problem was how to determin just how many sites have  links back to your site.

It turns out that Yahoo has a neat little feature you can take advantage of that will identify those backlinks.  In the search box, type in 'site:' followed by the URL of the site you are interested in (see the red box in the image above) and click the search button.  Yahoo will return all the sites it finds that have links back to the requested URL.  Nifty!

Unfortunately for me, Yahoo found only 2 sites with backlinks back to my SEO venture site.  Not too impressive!  I guess I need to work harder marketing my site.  Of course, my site has only been live for less that a day.  Anyway, that is the topic of my next blog, "off page SEO"!
